Branding

It’s April and Spring is in full swing, it’s warming up and new life is appearing.

You might be thinking it’s the perfect time to renew your brand identity. So, if you are rebranding, expanding or just interested in learning more about the power of branding read on.

There are several key points to remember when it comes to successful branding, the first is design. Strong, clean and bold. There are many in-depth articles about colour psychology and how colours create emotional responses within consumers. This is one of the tools you can use to inform your decision when designing your brand logo. You should also consider using a set of 2 complimentary colours to support your branding to give you some diversity when it comes to producing assets and content.

If you are planning to use a logo with an illustration, try to ensure it is simple and easy for you to reproduce or animate. You should also consider making a light version, to go on dark backgrounds, and a dark version to, you guessed it, go on light backgrounds.

Though your logo is important it is not the only factor in building your brand. Brand personality plays a major role in communicating with consumers, especially in our social media dominated era. By employing tactics such as a style of editing content, leveraging the right trends and interacting with relevant accounts, you can reach your target demographic using social media. However, going beyond content at face-value it communicates your businesses’ values and what makes you unique in a vast sea of alternatives.

Focus on why you started your business, was it for spreading good keeping practices? Was it for following your passion? Was it for giving your local area a place to shop for reptiles and exotic animals? Find your why and present it in its best light, consumers buy products from brands/stores that align with their personal values. This could be based on the prestige of a product or brand, it could be that this store/brand focusses on something they find morally important, it could be they really enjoyed the interaction at your store and customer service is very important to them. Whatever your values are, ensure they are threaded through your business from social media content to daily store operations.

Tone of voice – this doesn’t just refer to how you speak on camera, it informs how you write your captions, social posts and any form of customer-centric written communication. Depending on what perception you want to cultivate and your target demographic, you will need to adjust your writing style accordingly. For example, if you are aiming your external communications toward an aspirational market you may want to focus on more scientific language, whereas if you want to seem down to earth and approachable you should include less formal language.

If implemented well, branding can influence purchasing decisions, customer loyalty and support the growth of your business.
